i'm a big girl!

as you know, i started my new job on the second day of this new year. it is still going well, and i still like the people i work with. i think i get along pretty well with them all, and i feel like i'm learning a lot and slowly getting up to speed as i get the hang of things. i also feel proud of my work when its done, which is a really good feeling.

speaking of good feelings... the first paycheck of a new job. especially when you've been jobless and paycheckless for three and a half months. audrey and i went out to celebrate. where did we celebrate, you may ask? THE GREAT CHINA BUFFET! i love chinese food, especially when it comes in the form of a buffet (i hate all other buffets), but i haven't allowed myself to partake while being a pauper, so it was a perfect way to celebrate. and the great china buffet... that was a classy choice. we sat in a little booth in the corner, mostly cut off but the back of another booth. we were next to the window, where a lone christmas stocking still hung. the windows were covered in drippy condensation, and the ambiance that created, was precious. the food was mediocre but heck, what did i care? it was a CHINESE BUFFET. and to top off the whole experience... there was a huge backlight picture of the great wall of china, trimmed in a dirty, smudged metal box frame, which is an EXACT REPLICA of the one in CHINA ONE! our beloved chinese buffet from the good old days of Taylor. that was perfect.

after dinner audrey and i went to a party store and repeatedly asked ourselves, "WHY DO WE NOT COME HERE MORE OFTEN!?" then we traipsed over to the t-mobile store so i could check out a few mobile phones i've been researching. i think i've come to a decision, but its just not time to act yet.

we returned then, to our apartment and chatted and relaxed for a bit, before watching THE SIMPSONS movie. it was hilarious for a while (probably my favorite part was when the green day barge sunk like the titanic, while they all played there little violins, etc) but by the end i wasn't laughing... i was dozing. but thats ok, it was still an enjoyable flick. way to go simpsons.

and thus concludes my long overdue life update about being a big girl. i guess this pseudo adult life is becoming less and less pseudo, and more just... and adult life. eek! who said i was ready for that?
