Dye the River What?

This year is my first time experiencing St. Patrick's Day in Chicago. I've heard that Chicago goes crazy for St. Patrick's day, but I never knew exactly how crazy until today, when I witnessed The Dying of The River.

They dump 40 pounds of an unidentified substance in the river, just east of Michigan Ave, and it slowly travels westward through the canal. As you can see (that's the river behind us)... they don't kid around when they say they're going to dye a river green. It was the craziest holiday tradition I think I've ever seen. Oh and the thousands of drunk people at 11am was pretty spectacular as well.

After the dying of the river, we took Audrey on a little FIELD trip to see the bean for the very first time. It was also my first time actually going underneath the bean.

We had a really good day, the three of us. After the river, and after the bean, we went up to do some shopping in Water Tower Plaza, and then to Border's to hunt for books published by my company. It was quite fun.

When we finally headed home, Audrey and I were starving, but we still had to walk to her friend's house (even though we were SO CLOSE to the apartment when we got off the el!) to get her car. I decided that because of this predicament, we were going to need some sustenance in the form of DUNKIN DONUTS. So we walked accross the street from the El station, into the store, and wouldn't you know it? They had GREEN FROSTED DONUTS. This day was so overwhelmingly complete.
