a: i love whistling, its so cheery.
e: yeah, very. it's like walking down a soft dirt path, barefoot, in the spring, in the south. with a mint julip and a pretty lady on your arm. and let's not forget the straw hat.
a: oh the straw hat is essential.
e: probably a white suit with a pink shirt, too.
a: ewww, no way. not a pink shirt, and the suit should be more of a natural color.
e: i was trying to think of a better one...
a: a natural linen maybe?
e: okay, yes. you're right. what color shirt though?
a: hmm... maybe light blue?
e: cornflower blue?
a: or maybe he's not wearing a suit at all!
e: yeah, why not. could be overalls.
a: maybe he's wearing dungarees, to match his straw hat.
e: maybe just a white, v-neck t-shirt with the dungarees. i think i like that better.
a: ahh yes, that works well. maybe the cuffs of his pants turned up once or twice?
e: oh, definitely. and the lady would have an umbrella - what do they call them when it's for the sun? parasall? something like that... she doesn't have to be there though, for the whistling. could be replaced with a stem of grass in the mouth. then we have a different scenario, but more accurate. my original one was a bit too aristocratic.
a: yes, but how can he whistle with grass in his mouth?
e: i dunno, they just do. i think it actually helps.
a: i say he's walking along a stream, or a pond... throwing rocks into the water, as he picks them up from the dirt path.
e: yeah totally, skippin'.
a: you read my mind.
e: he would probably see a frog. or a catfish, and maybe imagine he was the frog, or catfish.
a: ooh! he could be carrying a fishing pole and one of those fish baskets! going fishing! no, the basket is hanging off his back, and he's carry a little tin tackle box!
e: yes! now we've got it!
a: by golly i think we've nailed it!
e: hot diggity!
